We were treated to a great evening of musical prowess on Sunday May 17th at the 7pm Mass here in St. Brigids. The Northwest University Concert Choir from Washington State paid us a visit as part of their tour their musical tour of Ireland. 50 young students, men and women, from the university sang from their vast repertoire of hymns and songs for the celebration of the Liturgy. After the Mass they then sang three more pieces to show their talents to the fullest. The Church reverberated with their a cappella voices as they brought professionalism, sincerity and a deep musical Spirituality and prayerfulness to the Mass. Afterward they were treated to some authentic Irish Hospitality in the Pastoral Centre availing of some beautiful baking and savoury delights from the Hospitality group.

We are delighted to announce another exciting chapter in the history of our parish at St. Brigids Parish in Blanchardstown with a major building project to provide a new Sacristy, Parish Office and Pastoral Centre for our Parish and Community for many years and generations to come. It comes as a fitting extension to our 175th Anniversary celebrations held throughout last year 2012. We hope to provide regular updates here on our website as the project progresses over the next few months. We also acknowledge the amount of work put in so far in getting the project to it's present state. Drawings outlining the proposed developement are on display in the Church Extension. Some photos to show progress on Building Project for new Sacristy, Parish Office and Pastoral Space

2012 marks the 175th anniversary of the opening of the current St. Brigid's church. The anniversary celebrations (which will continue throughout the year) were kicked off with a special Mass on the evening of the feast of St. Brigid, our patron. The ceremony, attended by large numbers, began with a procession with the parish banner and included a blessing of hands for all present. The liturgy was enriched by the participation of members from all the parish choirs. Afterwards, refreshments were provided in the community centre, where many enjoyed the music of the Blanchardstown Brass Band.

During Lent we were encouraged to bring some pieces of cloth and material and leave them in the basket at the altar. These cloths were sown together for the Holy Thursday Altar cloth and were draped on the cross on Good Friday symbolising all the burdens and pains that we carry with us in our lives and that we wish to leave in the loving hands of the Lord” Below are some pictures of the team making the cloth by joining the pieces together into one single cloth for the occassion.
